Overview

A destination resort is typically a spa/ wellness complex or a spa located at an upscale hotel. In either case, a destination resort offers the finest, upscale services in a lush setting. This is a place to be pampered and enjoy a high-service experience.

• Upscale: Wood paneling, thicker walls, more luxurious linens, higher end massage tables, special oils/lotions, etc usually accompany a spa setting
• Location: Located in beautiful or unique settings, often with large pool complexes or amazing natural beauty
• Facilities: Locker rooms, saunas, pools, etc may be available to enjoy after the treatment.
• Multiple therapy approaches: Other types of treatments, such as body wraps, nutrition, and beauty treatments may also be on the same grounds
• Activities: Many destination resorts also have a number of activities and other experiences on hand to make your trip an amazing one

Potential issues:

• Price: Destination resorts tend to be luxurious experiences—and the price reflects this
• Appointments: Appointments to non-guests at the facility may be more limited
• Selection: The staff may be focused on specific approaches consistent with the theme of the facility
• Hours: Hours are often limited to traditional business hours
